Areas of Expertise

Counselling

We all have work to do.

We don't have to do it alone.

It is my primary goal to provide a safe and nonjudgemental environment and a therapeutic alliance within which to do that work, whatever it may be.

Counseling, or therapy, is a dynamic and vital experience which can be comprised of:

  • Talking

  • Exploring memories and past and current experiences

  • Finding new tools for coping with stressful situations

  • Somatic and mindfulness practices

  • Resolving old and new issues

  • Extinguishing unhealthy habits and replacing them with new, healthier ones

  • Uncovering and healing old and new wounds and trauma

  • Parts work

  • And more

Modalities Used:
  • Person-centered (humanistic) approach

  • Holistic focus: looking at the person as a whole

  • Dream work

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Mindfulness

  • Somatic techniques (breathing, guided meditation, centering, grounding, safe emotional discharge and more)

  • Family systems, Internal Family Systems

  • Expressive Arts Therapy

  • DBT and CBT exercises and tools

  • EFT "Tapping"

Depth Psychotherapy

As a depth psychotherapist one of my therapeutic goals is to help my clients learn what is happening in their unconscious minds that is getting in the way of living their lives to the fullest, with a minimum of anxiety and stress.

This means that trauma from the past can be explored and processed so that we can be more authentic in the present moment, for a freer and fuller experience of our lives.

My Approach

My first priority as a therapist is to create a safe and nonjudgemental space and relationship for therapy to happen within.

I like to utilize such modalities as

  • dream work,

  • mindfulness,

  • EMDR

  • archetypal psychotherapy,

  • somatic techniques,

  • expressive arts,

  • play therapy,

  • drama therapy

What's most important to me is using the tools that will work for my clients, whatever they may be.

I want my clients to feel supported, heard, believed and held.  If they are not feeling these things, I encourage them to tell me, and we can then work to create the space and support they need.

My approach is based in depth psychotherapy, with a holistic, humanistic approach.   What that means is that I'm am curious about what is happening in my clients' unconscious, while being client-focused, as well as having an eye on the big picture and what will give my clients a more full, satisfying experience of his/her/their life.

From my experience, weekly therapy sessions are the most effective, unless the client is in crisis, which may require more frequent sessions until the crisis has passed.

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (# 140263).  I have been seeing groups, individual clients, couples, and families since 2017.

As a licensed therapist, I'm continually building my tool box.
